Drivers Seat Rear Bolt Mount Floor Pan Cracked

One Owner 1982

Active Member
My driver seat outboard rear stud mount has spiderweb cracked to the point that the seat was sawing the floor pan every time I got in an out of the car. I ordered a seat floor reinforcement plate from LMR. I have installed it by attaching it to the seat studs with nuts. I will be permanently installing it by welding it in soon. Im attaching pictures of it installed with nuts and I will update the post once I get it welded in.

I've used this reinforcement plate before. To be honest, I think they all need it. In fact, it wouldn't be a bad idea for guys like me to make a simple die of some sort. I have 5 of these cars and I think one seat has this plate installed. I can buy 9 more or build me a die and make them myself.

Well I got the plate welded on today. It really tightened up the floor and stabilized my drivers seat.

Well, if you have a lift and a welder and you have welding skills it was. I didn’t have any of that so it was good that I had a friend with all 3. It only took about 2 hours. One thing that we had trouble with was where the cracks were and the plate intersected them the floor pan was thinner so there was some trouble burning through. There were a couple of places that had to be filled in with a 2nd and 3rd pass but it turned out good. Definitely fixed my seat issue.

I have done so much to my 82 since the last time I posted. Interior has been restored. Car has been at multiple cruises and many compliments have been made. The most common compliment has been, “That’s the cleanest Fox Body I’ve seen in years”. When I show ppl the original window sticker it blows their minds.
