5.0 Build Idea

I'm going to pull the engine for a reseal. While I'm there, I'll check the bottom end (supposedly it's been rebuilt). If it's a good rebuild, I'm thinking the following:

Heads: Trick Flow 11R, 170, 53cc combustion chambers
Rockers: Crower bolt on shaft mount
Cam: Comp Cams 266/274 (advertised), 216/224 @.050, 112 lobe separation
Intake: Holley SysteMAX
Engine control: Pro-M
Headers: BBK Long Tubes (1-5/8")

Assuming stock/stock style rebuild I should have a static compression of around 10.6:1 and a dynamic compression of 8.2:1.

It's a 5-speed car with a 3.73 rear.

Thoughts? Criticisms? Jokes? :p

Sounds like a plan to me! You might consider beefing up some chassis and suspension parts. Subframe connectors, torque box reinforcement kit, and control arms. Stick with stock upper control arms if you don't do the torque box reinforcement. If they have a little flex to them, it might keep the upper torque box intact. Always full-length weld-in subframe connectors!

You also might consider some cheap mods to the t5. A billet steel cluster support plate, steel input shaft retainer, shim kits for both, re-shim everything to a very slight preload, and an aftermarket shifter to keep from over-shifting. (The t5 shift forks will thank you!)

There is a fair amount already in the works. Sitting in a back bedroom are:

-Global West front lower arms
-SN95 spindles
-Bilstien struts & shocks
-Caster/Camber plates
-Global West rear lower arms
-Rear disc brake kit

Planned (but not yet ordered)

-Detroit Speed subframe connector kit.

Eventually, I want to go 6-speed, and either a torque arm or Cobra IRS.
