Holes not lining up on my sn95 conversion

Doing a mock up of my suspension without the springs, the bolts for the struts are about a quarter inch off of the sn95 spindles. Am I missing something? The cars an 86, struts are kyb replacements

The struts came off the car with the factory spindles. The spindles I picked up are off a 95v6 car I removed them myself from a local junk yard.

Man, you got me on that one. I did the same conversion on my 79 and I'm pretty sure bolt holes lined up. Anyway, I guess 1/4" difference isn't so bad that it can't be used. You could grind 1/8" off of one side of each hole in the strut to get it to work. Sounds odd, though, that they worked on the 86 and not with the 95 spindles.

By any chance, does it look like the 86 spindles were altered to fit the struts?

Long story short, when I bought the car it was converted to 5 lug. I bought brakes and spindles off of a 03 cobra, so I sold the spindles that were in the car. Then I realized I needed the spindles after I sold them because the 03 wouldn’t work correctly. I found and bought new spindles off a 95. Now the struts that were on the car when I purchased it don’t seem to line up. I’m starting to think they converted my car with something other than a mustangs suspension and that’s why the strut and new spindles aren’t lining up. I’m going to buy new struts for the car and hope this solves my problem. Hope that wasn’t too confusing

That makes sense. Still not sure what they would have come off of. If I weren't working out of town, I could run out to the garage and measure the distance between the strut bolt holes for you. I have a couple sets lying around. I won't hit dry land for another 3 weeks though lol!
