Both doors on my 86' have play in them when you lift them up, this makes it impossible for the doors to latch without slamming them shut. Could this be solved simply with new door pins? Or are the actual brackets bent.

If you open the door and lift up on it while looking at the hinges, you should be able to see/feel movement. It's almost always an issue with the pin and bushing. There shouldn't be any movement/play in the hinge.

my passenger side door would somtimes not close properly. i changed out both pins and all 4 bushings and she opens and closes nicely now!!
