Bought back my first new car- '82 Mustang GT

I bought this car new in 1982. I was waiting on the '83's since they would have a Holley 4 BBL...but when I saw them I realized I liked the looks of the '82 a lot better and started scouring the dealerships to find one I liked. This one came home with me and I quickly installed an Edelbrock Torker intake along with a Holley 750 double pumper and some true dual exhaust. Had a lot of fun with it but a few years later I put the 2BBL back on and sold it to my bother-in-law. A few years after that he sold it to the local District Attorney. Long story short, he passed away a few years ago and the car had been sitting for 18+ years in his garage. A chance meeting with his father and him telling about his son's Mustang and the rides he took in it, led me to realize it was my old car! I was able to buy it back a few months ago and have been bringing it all back to life again.

They had painted it, installed some Mustang Recaro's, rebuilt the engine at some point and added an Edelbrock head/cam/intake/carb package and headers to it along with a new Tremec 5 speed to replace the original SROD. I got it running in about 30 minutes. I've replaced fuel tank, pump, alternator, cleaned up some wiring and a bunch of small details. New headliner too.

They told me of the time the 16 year old brother of the DA drove it for the first time and looped it on a sidesreet and tagged a curb which tweaked the axle flange. Yep..it still had a wobble. A buddy had a 8.8 out of a GT so I installed it with a new set of 4.10's along with the quad-shocks and new speedo gear.

I found a set of Cobra wheels/tires to replace the factory 14" combo. Looks a lot better to me.

Most recently, I found the 50 year old Holley 750 double pumper I had installed on it in 1982. I removed the Edelbrock 600 CFM carb and put the old Holley back "home" after a good rebuild. It runs killer!

I'm having fun with the car my daughter came home from the hospital in! BTW- I had later bought a new '88 LX 5.0 and she was the first to ride in it home from the dealership. Back in March I completed getting it painted and running great and gave it to her...she drives it every day and loves it!
