my 79' fox!

Hey guys, I picked up a 79' fox a few months ago. Looking to getting up and running good, it has a 351w dropped in it, but I'm finding it hard to find any decent preformance upgrades for it. :/

She's not a looker, but still runs good, just recently took the motor our to repair a bad oil pan gasket, and repaint doghouse, and tuck wires, I will get more photos of that soon.

Please feel free to critize, and throw out ideas. :)

Also, I love any car that goes fast, I own a b4c camaro, moderatly built with a 175 shot, and a 1.8t jetta with a precison 66/67 turbo, that makes a little over 300 horses, and the camaro makes about 450, given I have not ever hit the dyno with them, I'm just guess by perfect conditikns with the mods on them. But I have to say I love my fox the most. Also, I have paperwork to show my fox was number 4 from the assembly line. :) like I don't think you guys know how stoked I am to own a fox. I've worked hard ro attain the vehicles I have, the other two give me problems all the time, but the fox really hasn't except for the oil pan gasket.

Awesome! The aftermarket for 351w is huge. is just depends on what direction you want to go with it. What heads are on it? if they are stock that'd be the first thing i would do. there is a lot of power potential in a 351, especially carbed.

I'm in the middle of building a 351w based 408 stroker. Let me know if you're looking for certain parts and i can point you in the right direction of some stuff that will really wake it up!

I'm looking towards forced induction, maybe a small turbo, or small blower, I don't really want more then 400-450 horse as its just a street car. Right now my main concern i suspension.

For a street car I would go turbo if you want a power adder. But you can get close to that 400 number naturally aspirated. Lots of potential in a 351 with the right top end

First suspension mod for any fox IMO should be subframe connectors. It'll make a huge difference. What type of suspension are you wanting? Drag oriented? Street strip? Corner carving?

Street strip. I planned on putting 456 gears in it for a stoplight to stoploght car.

With a c4 you probably don't need to go that big. 4:10s would do great.

For the rear I'd recommend team z or baseline relocated upper arms and any decent tubular lowers, keep stock rear sway bar and stock springs.

For the front, depending on how drastic you want to get, a tubular k member and a arms would save a ton of weight and clear up a lot of space to work on exhaust etc under the car. A mild steel k member is about 250 bucks from just about every company: UPR, team z, AJE etc. I have an AJE chromoly k member and it's a top quality product.

Get strange 10 way shocks and struts, so you can tighten them up for regular driving. They're awesome products.
The above with the subframe connectors and that baby will hook hard ;)

From the little I have gotten to drive it, it always hooked hard, but the car hard the wrong flywheel, pushing the torque converter back to far, causing the pump to go out in the tranny. After waiting for 3 months to get a pump, shift kit, and new valve body for it, and 1700 $ later I got it back, and it hooked good in first, but when it shifta to second it becomes a hand full. It has really squishy suspension right now, and it makes it hard to handle because of body roll.

Also, anyone know how the stock alternator and power steering pump mounting bracket goes on a 351w? I've searched google and youtube and can't seen to figure it out.

Does it have a front sway bar?

I'll search around for a configuration for the brackets. I never had to worry about it. I know the power steering bracket is 351 specific but the 302 alternator bracket is the same.
